CLARK COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE DEFINITELY LIBRARY USERS!

This summer and fall, over 1,800 new library cards were issued.  Currently, there are 4294 students with active library cards and another 1,080 students who are using their Clark College photo IDs to check out materials.  Visits to the Cannell Library have continued to increase this academic year with a gate count of 125,878 this fall quarter which is 22% more than fall 2008.

The 8 laptops at the newly opened Information Commons at the Columbia Tech campus circulated 49 times as did the materials on reserve for classes at that facility. Twenty students signed up to borrow laptops in the IC.  Students also took advantage of picking up 33 items borrowed via Summit and delivered by courier.

Total circulation during fall quarter of 2009 for Clark College Library Services is up 22% over fall 2008.  The biggest increases at Cannell Library were in class reserve materials (+57%) and equipment (+57%), especially laptops with 1191 circulations for 7 computers!  Laptop borrowers registrations were up 74% with 294 students signing up for the first time this academic year. Audiovisual materials increased 23% with DVD check outs up 30%.  English as a Second Language (ESL/ENL) collection check outs increased by 29%. Total  book circulation is up 5%.
