{"id":12185,"date":"2023-01-13T11:21:01","date_gmt":"2023-01-13T19:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.clarkcollegelibraries.org\/blog\/?p=12185"},"modified":"2026-03-26T10:58:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T17:58:19","slug":"introducing-clark-college-libraries-equity-focused-strategic-plan-for-2022-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.clarkcollegelibraries.org\/blog\/introducing-clark-college-libraries-equity-focused-strategic-plan-for-2022-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing Clark College Libraries&#8217; Equity-Focused Strategic Plan for 2022-2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In honor and action for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it seems fitting to share the library&#8217;s new Equity-Focused Strategic Plan:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Clark College Libraries work to eliminate barriers and provide equitable information access through our services, resources, and instruction.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We strive to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide a welcoming and supportive environment for the Clark College community<\/li>\n<li>acquire, curate, organize, and facilitate universal access to physical and online resources<\/li>\n<li>teach and advocate for information literacy across the college\u2019s physical and virtual locations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We acknowledge the systemic barriers to the participation of systemically non-dominant groups in libraries and in higher education. Leading with racial equity, Clark College Libraries offer culturally relevant resources and equity-minded services to our patrons.<\/p>\n<p>Our goals align with the values of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clark.edu\/about\/governance\/strategic_plan\/social-equity-framework.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clark College\u2019s 2021-2026 Social Equity Framework<\/a>\u2014Abolitionist Framework, Collective Care, Inclusive Practices, and Transformative Mindset.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Clark College Libraries 2022-23 Goals<\/p>\n<p>For each goal, we will examine related library policies using the Abolitionist Framework.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Goal 1: Improve accessibility of library materials and spaces (Abolitionist Framework, Inclusive Practices)\n<ul>\n<li>Strategy 1: Propose an accessibility project as one of the Alliance Strategic Initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Strategy 2: At our Library Leadership Team meetings, identify areas for improvement in library policies related to accessibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Goal 2: Improve communication between library colleagues (Collective Care, Inclusive Practices)\n<ul>\n<li>Strategy 1: Unit Dean will work with the Administrative Services Manager and Acquisitions Specialist on a library budget report to share with the library.
