Clark students have the opportunity to participate in MUN activities and broaden their knowledge of global issues.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that Clark students have participated in Model United Nations for decades? You can search the <a href=\"http:\/\/digitalcollections.clark.edu\/newspapers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clark College Student Newspaper Collection<\/a> for &#8220;Model United Nations&#8221; to read about Clark students&#8217; MUN activities in the last century. For example, below is the content of an article from <a href=\"http:\/\/digitalcollections.clark.edu\/newspapers\/items\/show\/81\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the March 2, 1962 issue of the Penguin&#8217;s Progress<\/a> (a predecessor of INDY), entitled <strong>Model council eyes &#8217;62 Mun<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>International Relations Club members attended the second Model Security Council held at Lewis and Clark in Portland, Saturday, Feb. 24. The council was patterned after the United Nations council by countries and agenda presented. Clark represented the Irish Republic. Discussion centered upon the situation in the Congo, Netherlands, New Guinea, Angola, as well as the international problems of the ban on nuclear weapons&#8217; testing and the organization of the secretary-general&#8217;s office. Molly Barry, Ceci Ryan, Judy Lecky, Carolyn Whitmore, Diane Betzing, Russ Erdman, and Ted Rogers attended the Security Council, one step in preparation for the Model United Nations to be held later in the spring at San Diego.
