{"id":11166,"date":"2020-11-13T17:42:48","date_gmt":"2020-11-14T01:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.clarkcollegelibraries.org\/blog\/?p=11166"},"modified":"2020-11-13T18:14:51","modified_gmt":"2020-11-14T02:14:51","slug":"international-education-week-at-clark-college-libraries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.clarkcollegelibraries.org\/blog\/international-education-week-at-clark-college-libraries\/","title":{"rendered":"International Education Week at Clark College Libraries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uj6ShPmuA_g\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Spanish Language Film Collection<\/h2>\n<p>Several years ago, Spanish Professor Felipe Montoya created a list of award-winning <a href=\"https:\/\/alliance-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/search?institution=CC&amp;vid=CC&amp;tab=default_tab&amp;mode=Basic&amp;group=GUEST&amp;onCampus=true&amp;displayMode=full&amp;query=any,contains,%22Spanish%20language%20films%22&amp;pcAvailabiltyMode=true&amp;highlight=true&amp;displayField=all&amp;bulkSize=20&amp;queryTemp=%22Spanish%20language%20films%22&amp;search_scope=cc_alma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">international films in Spanish<\/a> and obtained a grant so the library could purchase these films for our collection. He also guided his students in translation of the film summaries from Spanish to English to make the films more discoverable in the library online catalog. These Spanish DVDs featuring award-winning artists from all over the world are all subtitled in English.<\/p>\n<h2>Spanish Novels for Language Learning<\/h2>\n<p>Last year, the library collaborated with Professor Betsy Ubiergo who helped us create a collection called <a href=\"https:\/\/clark.libguides.com\/spanish-language-learning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spanish Novels for Language Learning<\/a> to help her support her students.<\/p>\n<h2>International Streaming Videos through AVON (Academic Videos Online)<\/h2>\n<p>Thanks to our library&#8217;s membership in the Orbis Cascade Alliance consortium, we recently added a new streaming video collection, <a href=\"http:\/\/ezproxy.clark.edu:12048\/login?url=https:\/\/video.alexanderstreet.com\/channel\/academic-video-online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AVON (Academic Videos Online)<\/a>, with over 71,000 videos. The circulation staff has also participated in social equity training specifically for library staff to recognize and to respond to xenophobia.<\/p>\n<h2>Cookbooks<\/h2>\n<p>A few years ago we collaborated with culinary faculty to update our tasty cookbooks and food-focused reads.
