The ALA's 2020 National Library Week Graphic. It is blue and there is a boat and lighthouse on the righthand side. The text reads "Find your place at the library" on the lefthand side and then "Celebrate National Library Week April 19-25, 2020" at the bottom.

“The theme for National Library Week 2020, “Find your place at the library,” was chosen some time ago, before any of us could imagine the emergence of a global pandemic that would force most libraries to temporarily close their physical spaces. But you can still find your place at the library because libraries are open for business online, providing the virtual services and digital content their communities need more than ever. You can access ebooks, movies, music, video games, virtual storytimes and activities, and so much more — all from the the comfort of your home.” – American Library Association (ALA)

Here at Clark College we are working to help students find their place in the library, even though our physical library spaces are currently closed. Below are some ways to engage with Clark College Libraries online while the college has online and remote classes.

Follow Clark College Libraries on Twitter and Facebook! Library staff will be updating our social media throughout the quarter with virtual displays, blog posts, and more.

The ALA is encouraging folx to share what they love about their libraries on social media with the hashtag #ThankYouLibraries. Make sure to use the hashtag #ClarkCollegeLibraries and tag us in any posts made so we can share them!

Check out our virtual displays! When the Cannell Library and CTC iCommons are open we create book displays throughout the quarters. We have moved these displays online, starting with our National Poetry Month display for April. The display features poetry ebooks and other online resources, and can be found here. Next month we will have virtual displays for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Jewish American Heritage Month, and Mental Health Awareness Month

Missing the option to check out books or DVDs? Look into our ebooks and streaming videos! Clark students and employees have access to our online resources through their Clark computer/lab account. Find a list of streaming videos here, access more media through our Clark College Kanopy account here, and learn how to find ebooks here.

If you have questions for a reference librarian you can still use the Ask A Librarian chat to get 24/7 help or the Ask A Librarian email to talk to a Clark College librarian. These are great resources for getting research help, learning about citation formatting, and asking questions about specific subjects. If you have general Clark College library questions you can also send an email to ccl@clark.edu.

Over the last few weeks Clark College Library staff has been working hard to prepare for the start of classes on Monday. We are looking forward to “seeing” you online and working with you this quarter!
